So your pooch's birthday is fast approaching, and you're trying to figure out how to present her with her very own delicious birthday cake. Or maybe you're just looking for a way to include your best furry friend in a celebration. Perhaps you're hosting a puppy party to socialize your new dog and to gather your friends and family together with the pets. Whatever the reason, a chicken-bacon cake for canines is easy to prepare, and the pooches are sure to love it. And if any of the humans want a slice, that's OK too.

    Step 1

Set 1/2 cup butter or margarine out to soften.

    Step 2

Grease and flour two round 8-inch cake pans. Coat the interior surfaces of the pans with solid shortening, applying it evenly with a pastry brush or paper towel. Look for shiny spots to make sure you didn't miss any surface area, and be careful to get in the crevice where the sides meet the bottoms of the pans. Sprinkle 2 teaspoons all-purpose flour over each greased pan.

    Step 3

Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

    Step 4

Heat 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil in a medium frying pan over medium-high heat until it rolls around in the pan as fluidly as water. Fry three strips of bacon until they're crispy, turning them over once. Set them on a clean paper towel to cool and drain, then crumble them when they're cool enough to handle.

    Step 5

Add 3 cups of flour and 1 tablespoon baking powder to a medium mixing bowl. Whisk them together.

    Step 6

Beat 6 eggs in a medium mixing bowl.

    Step 7

Shred 2 cups of peeled carrots finely.

    Step 8

Put the 1/2 cup softened butter or margarine into a large mixing bowl. Beat it into a smooth consistency with a plastic or wooden stirrer. Slowly pour in the beaten eggs and 1/2 cup corn oil. Stir continuously to mix all three ingredients.

    Step 9

Empty 2 jars of strained chicken baby food into the large mixing bowl. Opt for an organic product if possible. Add the shredded carrots, too, and mix everything together thoroughly.

    Step 10

Add the flour mixture to the large mixing bowl. Incorporate it completely by stirring.

    Step 11

Pour half the batter into each of the two cake pans.

    Step 12

Put the two pans in the center of the preheated oven. Bake the cakes together for one hour.

    Step 13

Remove the pans from the oven and let them cool for five minutes. After this time, carefully remove the cakes from the pans and place them on wire cooling racks. Allow them to sit and cool completely.

    Step 14

Spread 1/2 pint plain yogurt over the top of each of the cakes. Place one cake on top of the other too create a two-layer cake.

    Step 15

Sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the top of the cake.
