The probiotics found in acidophilus supplements can be extremely beneficial to your dog's health. Acidophilus is used frequently to help bring the digestive system back into balance and ease yeast infections. However, care should be taken when you consider giving your dog human supplements of any kind.

Acidophilus for Dogs

Generally speaking, there is no difference between human and pet grade acidophilus supplements, though there may be a difference in pill size and probiotic concentration. However, before you administer the supplement, you should consult your dog's veterinarian to find out what dosage your dog needs, depending on his weight and size. In addition, if your dog must be on a probiotic regimen for a sustained amount of time, your vet may recommend an acidophilus supplement that is formulated specifically for dogs' digestive systems.
