Baking Carrot Cake for Dogs

If you love baking as much as you love dogs, why not bake for your dog? Whether you’re celebrating his birthday or simply in the mood to give him a special treat, baking a canine carrot cake is a healthy and tasty way to spoil your pooch.

Gather the necessary ingredients. For the cake you’ll need 2 cups of shredded carrots, 3 eggs, ½ cup of unsweetened applesauce, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, ½ cup of rolled oats, and 3 cups of whole wheat flour. For the frosting you’ll need 8 ounces of low-fat, softened cream cheese and ¼ cup of unsweetened applesauce.

Prep your baking station. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a cake or loaf pan. Set aside one large and one medium-sized bowl for mixing.

Mix the ingredients. In the large mixing bowl, combine the carrots, eggs and applesauce. Stir the mixture and set aside. In the medium mixing bowl, combine the cinnamon, oats and flour. Whisk the ingredients together in the medium bowl and then gradually pour the dry ingredients into the large bowl while stirring until the mixture is well blended.

Prepare the frosting. In another medium mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese and applesauce. Stir the ingredients until the mixture is well blended and set aside.

Bake the carrot cake. Pour the blended cake mixture into a lightly greased cake or loaf pan and place into the preheated oven. Bake for 25 minutes.

Cool and frost the cake. After baking, place the cake on a wire rack and allow time for it to cool completely. Smooth the frosting over the top of the cake and serve.

Mix the ingredients. Start by mixing the flour and baking soda then add the remaining ingredients. Stir the mixture until well blended.

Prepare the frosting. Puree the cottage cheese in a blender and set aside.

Bake the peanut butter carrot cake. Pour the cake mixture into a cake or loaf pan and place into the preheated oven. Bake for 30 minutes.

Cool and frost the cake. After baking, place the cake on a wire rack and allow time for it to cool completely. Smooth the frosting over the top of the cake and serve.
