If you apply topical Frontline Plus to your dog each month, fleas, tick and lice shouldn't affect him. This product, with the active ingredients of fipronil and S-methoprene, kills not only adult fleas, but also eradicates the larvae and eggs from your pet. It also kills most types of ticks found in the United States, including the American and brown dog ticks, deer tick and lone star tick.
Frontline Plus Application
Apply Frontline Plus monthly to the skin between your dog's shoulder blades. It's an area he can't reach and lick the residue. Frontline Plus is available over the counter, but you should ask your veterinarian about the recommended application time period for your part of the country. In warm climates, where fleas and ticks thrive year-round, you'll need to apply Frontline Plus 12 times a year. In other areas, the flea and tick season might run from early spring to late fall.
